The Texas Tornado are pleased to announce the hiring of Ashley Schmid as Director/Choreographer of the Texas Tornado Siren Dancers. She replaces Christina Rosen, who was in charge of the program last year.

"We're happy to bring Ashley aboard to head up the Tornado Siren Dancer program," Tornado Vice President Ben Weber said. "Not only are they a fan favorite, but they also are very important to our marketing program. I think Ashley will take the program to even bigger heights in 2012-2013."

Schmid brings with her a wealth of experience in both sales and as a choreographer. She was a Sales Manager at Planet Beach Contempo Spa from 2006-2008 before being named Spa Director. She worked there through 2011. Schmid expects that, with her sales background, she can help the Tornado in more ways than one.

"As the new Director, I am honored to lead the Texas Tornado Siren Dancers into a new chapter built on the tremendous foundation laid over by Christina Rosen," Schmid said. "This is an exciting time as we create a new vision to ignite our fans, with passionate performances that provide a spark of Energy, Excitement, Edge, and Execution."

Schmid has served as Director/Choreographer of the North Texas Longhorn Dance Team since 2011, but has also choreographed routines for Dream.Work.Conquer Films as well as the Cali Sonte performance at House of Blues, and the Frisco Flash Mob. She was also a dancer at the Dallas Cowboys Thanksgiving performance in 2011 in addition to being a Dallas Mavericks Dancers finalist in 2009. With all this experience, Schmid is confident she can take the Tornado Siren Dancer program to new levels.

" I am thrilled and eager to begin working and extend my appreciation to the Texas Tornado Hockey family for your continued team support," Schmid said.

Schmid will be holding auditions for the 2012-2013 Texas Tornado Siren Dancers on Saturday, September 8th. The first prep class will be held at 7p.m. and 8p.m. August 15th at the Centre for Dance. For more information, those interested in trying out can contact Schmid at ashleyschmid7@yahoo.com.
