Thrilling Thursday: The Desert Dogs host the Saguaros and the Scorpions face the Rafters...first pitch 1:05 pm. The day concludes with a 7:05 first pitch at Peoria as the Javelinas host the Solar Sox. The Arizona Fall League is in its 13th season. Each team will play 38 games and the winners of the two divisions will meet in a one-game championship on November 20th at Scottsdale Stadium.
Casey at Bat: The Solar Sox scored 10 runs off 12 hits to beat the Javelinas 10-4 at Hohokam stadium. Chicago White Sox prospect Casey Rogowski led the Solar Sox at the plate going 2-for-3, with a walk and two runs scored. Rogowski, Reid Gorecki (STL), Brian Anderson (CWS) and Ronnie Cedeno (CHC) combined for eight of the Solar Sox 12 hits.
Saguaros swing: The Peoria Saguaros pounded out 18 hits on their way to a 14-7 win over the Phoenix Desert Dogs. The game was close until the bottom of the sixth when Vito Chiaravalloti (TOR) came to bat with the bases loaded and nobody out. Chiaravalloti would drive a hit off the wall to clear the bases and give Peoria a 9-7 lead. The Saguaros would add five more insurance runs to seal the victory.
Dustin-time: Seven runs for the Scottsdale Scorpions in the fourth inning led the way to an 8-3 win over the Grand Canyon Rafters. At the plate Dustin Pedroia (BOS) was tops going 3-for-4, scoring once and driving in a run. Jason Repko (LA), Jesse Gutierrez (CIN), James Loney (LA), Royce Huffman (HOU) and Charlton Jimerson (HOU) added eight of the Scorpions 15 hits. Relief pitcher Ryan Costello (MIL) earned his first win of the season.
Garret Anderson: The Arizona Fall League continues its tradition of honoring former player and managers by inducting them into the Hall of Fame. Garret Anderson will be in attendance for the Scorpions-Rafters game on Friday, October 29th at Scottsdale Stadium. The induction ceremony will take place prior to the start of the 7:05 pm game.
Tony Peña, Sr.: The Arizona Fall League continues its tradition of honoring former player and managers by inducting them into the Hall of Fame. Tony Peña, Sr. will be in attendance for the Saguaros-Scorpions game on Wednesday, November 3rd at Scottsdale Stadium. The induction ceremony will take place prior to the start of the 7:05 pm game.
ASU Day at the AFL: Show your ASU spirit and receive $1.00 off admission to the Arizona Fall League on Friday, October 29th at Scottsdale Stadium. The ASU baseball team will be in attendance to sign autographs.
Mark Your Calendars: The Fall League will give away 100 Richie Sexson Bobblehead Dolls October 29th at Scottsdale Stadium. Winners will be selected through a lucky number drawing for all fans in attendance.
