Second Coming: With one game under their belts, the six teams play their second games of the Arizona Fall League's 13th season...Javelinas travel to Grand Canyon and the Solar Sox host the Desert Dogs with a 1:05 p.m. first pitch. The Scorpions and Saguaros close the day with a 7:05 p.m. game. Each team will play 38 games and the winners of the two divisions will meet in a one-game championship on November 20th at Scottsdale Stadium.
Extra Innings: Tommy Murphy (ANA) led off the bottom of the tenth inning with a triple and eventually scored on a passed ball to give the Desert Dogs a 5-4 win over the Solar Sox. Josh Wilson (FLA), Jeremy Hermida (FLA) and Mike Napoli (ANA) each went yard for Phoenix.
Slugfest: Slugfest: The Rafters offense combined for 21 hits in a 14-3 win over the Javelinas in Peoria. Kevin Thompson (NYY) fourth inning grand slam broke the game wide open. Right-handed pitcher Mark Woodyard (DET) earned his first win of the season blanking the Javelinas in 4-1/3 innings.
Nightcap: Connor Jackson's (AZ) run in the eighth inning proved to be the key as the Scorpions beat the Saguaros 2-1 at Scottsdale Stadium Tuesday night. The Scorpions tied the game in the seventh inning when a sacrifice fly by Anthony Gwynn, Jr. (MIL) scored Tommy Whiteman (HOU). Steve Schmoll (LA) notched his first win in the effort.
Hall of Fame: The Arizona Fall League continues its tradition of honoring former player and managers by inducting them into the Hall of Fame. This years inductees are Garrett Anderson (Rafters), Albert Pujols (Scorpions) and Tony Peña (Saguaros). The dates and sites of the ceremonies for each individual will be announced at a later date.
Mark Your Calendars: The Fall League will give away 100 Richie Sexson Bobblehead Dolls October 29th at Scottsdale Stadium. Winners will be selected through a lucky number drawing for all fans in attendance.
