Alumnus of the Day
Game one of the 2008 World Series begins tonight as the Tampa Bay Rays and the Philadelphia Phillies battle at Tropicana Field in Tampa. There are 39 players on the World Series rosters, including 12 pitchers, who are alums of the Arizona Fall League.

Peoria Javelinas 18, Peoria Saguaros 11 - WP: Watson (CIN) (1-1, 14.40), LP: W. Lopez (SD) (1-1, 5.06)
Down by six in the first inning, the Javelinas scored eight in the second inning to secure the slugfest victory ... Javs' 1B Rhyne Hughes (TB) was a double short of the cycle and knocked in four RBI ... 2B Justin Turner (CIN) went 4-for-4 with 1 double, 4 runs, and 3 RBI ... Saguaros leadoff hitter and CF Sean Kazmar (SD) was 4-for-5 with a pair of RBI and runs ... Kazmar had two hits in the first inning ... Saguaros DH Bill Rhinehart (WAS) hit a grand slam in the first inning.

2008 AFL Tidbits
- The third annual Rising Stars game will be played at Surprise Stadium this Friday, October 24th at 7:15 p.m. Each MLB organization will be represented in the American Division vs. National Division contest.
- Cleveland Indians manager Eric Wedge was inducted into the AFL Hall of Fame last Friday night at Scottsdale Stadium.
- The Arizona Fall League will hold the second annual Pat Tillman Foundation Benefit Night on Saturday, November 1 at Scottsdale Stadium. Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Eric Byrnes and other special guests from the Phoenix sports community will participate in the event that will feature a sports memorabilia auction before and during the game. All proceeds from the sports memorabilia auction and one-half of the night's gate receipts will be donated to the Pat Tillman Foundation.
