Dupage Dragons News Release
Lisle, IL - It was short lived and yet an excellent stepping stone in the life of Ryne White. After being cut from the Chicago Cubs system, Ryne White was determined to make it back. And make it back he did as he will return to affiliated ball after being signed by the Philadelphia Phillies.
After being cut by the Cubs, White was fortunate to return home to play for the Windy City Thunderbolts. A St. Rita grad, White felt right at home in Crestwood. Playing most of his games as a corner outfielder, he hit .274 while adding 5 homeruns and 30 RBI. His 15 doubles led the team at the time of his signing.
White has been assigned to the Williamsport Crosscutters of the New York-Penn League.
While with the Dragons in 2006, White led the team in batting average (.329), doubles (11), homeruns (4), and RBI (28). He was named to the mid season and post season All Star teams. He was a participant in the Home Run Derby. He shared the Mike Schmidt MVP award with two other players, making it the first time in league history that the award was shared.
