Cedar Rapids RoughRiders News Release
CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA - The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders are excited to announce the hiring of Andrew Whiteside as Assistant Coach.
Coach Whiteside is joining the RoughRiders from the Lone Star Brahmas of the NAHL where he served as an assistant coach last season.
"The RoughRiders family welcomes Andrew," said Head Coach Mark Carlson. "I'm very excited to work with him. He's done a nice job over the last number of years in the North American League. He certainly has a good feel for the player evaluation side of things, as well as team-building and on-ice coaching."
Whiteside is a native of Philadelphia, PA, and attended Niagara University. He worked as an assistant coach for the Kenai River Brown Bears in 2015-16 before joining the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights. He was with the Knights from 2016-2020 working both as an assistant coach and director of scouting during his time with the club. He has also coached for Team USA at the USA Select 16 Player Development Camp in his career.
"I am extremely humbled and grateful for the opportunity to join the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders as an assistant coach," Whiteside said. "The RoughRiders have an outstanding history in the USHL and I look forward to being part of that culture. I'd like to thank my family for the constant support and I can't wait to get started in Ridertown, USA!"
The RoughRiders welcome Andrew and the Whiteside family to Ridertown!
