BELLINGHAM, Wash. - The Bellingham Slam, thanks in part to a triple-double from guard Morris Anderson, earned their second lopsided victory of the holiday weekend with a 155-101 win over the Japan Tornadoes on Monday at Whatcom Pavilion.
Monday's victory followed a 145-94 trouncing of the Olympia Reign on Friday.
Anderson 's triple-double, his first of the season, consisted of 19 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists.
The Slam stormed out in front early and looked interested in challenging the team's record for points scored in a game after posting 48 in the first quarter alone en route to a 84-54 halftime lead.
The Tornadoes, who suited just six players for the game, struggled to compete with the Slam throughout the night, despite receiving a big night from one of their import players, guard Jordan Mast, who also posted a triple-double with 38 points, 20 rebounds and 10 assists.
High scorer honors for the Slam were shared by guards Paul Hafford and Jacob Stevenson, who each had 27 points.
The 38 points scored by the Tornadoes' Mast was good for game-high status, while guard Yasu Iijima added 33.
The Slam completed the first half of their regular season schedule with a 9-1 record, good for first place in the International Basketball League.
The Slam head to Vancouver on Friday for a road game against the 2011 IBL Champion Volcanoes, before heading north to Blaine for a game on Saturday, June 2 against the Salem Soldiers, the only team to defeat the Slam this season. Tip-off for Saturday's game is set for 7 p.m. at Blaine High School .
