Anderson Leads Slam in Rout of Yamhill

BELLINGHAM, Wash. -Bellingham Slam guard Morris Anderson posted a season-high 34 points as the Slam routed the Yamhill Highlfyers, 141-101, in International Basketball League action on Saturday at Whatcom Pavilion.

Yamhill was able to keep the game competitive until the Slam posted a 17-4 run in the middle stages of the second quarter. Bellingham led 68-53 at halftime.

The Slam didn't receive much pushback from the Highlfyers in the second half, as they built up a 20-point lead in the third quarter and a 40-point advantage in the fourth with the team's reserves seeing much of the action.

Anderson's 34 points came from 14-of-21 shooting from the floor. Center Blake Poole enjoyed another impressive outing with a double-double of 24 points and a season-high 22 rebounds. Rookie forward Chas Kok finished with 22 points in just 12 minutes of action.

Forward Jermaine Blackburn led Yamhill with 21 points, while forward Jason Hartford had 14 points and a team-high 11 boards.

The Slam will head back on the road for their next game on Friday, June 29 as they visit the Portland Chinooks. The Slam will then wrap up their regular season schedule at home on Sunday, July 1 against the China All-Stars with a 5pm tip-off at Whatcom Pavilion.
