Anaheim Bolts News Release
Anaheim, CA- After 14 long years, Indoor soccer finally returns to Orange County on Saturday night when the newly formed Anaheim Bolts take on the historic San Diego Sockers at 8:00 PM PST at the Anaheim Convention Center Arena.
This will be the Bolts inaugural match in the Professional Arena Soccer League, the largest professional indoor league in North America (http://www.paslsoccer.com/).
In addition to opening night, the Bolts will also be hosting a Thanksgiving Food drive. Fans are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to the arena, which in turn will be given to local families in need. Fans who donate a non-perishable food item will receive a voucher for 50% off of a Bolts ticket.
While it is the first league game, the Bolts have already racked up some impressive results in preseason, including a 9-6 victory over the Mexican Indoor National team. That was only the second ever loss in the history of Mexico's indoor squad. The Bolts also took the US Arena National Team to a shootout after a 9-9 tie in regulation.
The Bolts are a mix of local and international talent. Among the ranks is indoor soccer legend Paul Wright. The indoor soccer veteran has been on the indoor soccer circuit since 1987 and is most famous for his string of titles with Saturday's opponents, the San Diego Sockers.
At the other end of the spectrum is 18-year-old Patric Ruiz from Corona. The Guatemalan is known as the "Little Messi" and was impressive during the Bolts matches against the US and Mexico.
Cote d'Ivoire forward, Georges Ba played for 10 years in France's top outdoor leagues with the likes of Montpellier and Le Mans while earning two international appearances for his country.
Miguel Sanchez (Inglewood, CA) and Carlos Borja (Anaheim, CA) both had stints with top outdoor Mexican side Cruz Azul. Fellow midfielder Hugo Casillas also played outdoors professionally in Mexico for 8 years.
Owner and Head Coach Bernie Lilavois is so confident with the side he has put together that he guarantees the Bolts will make the playoffs in their first season.
If Lightning doesn't strike as Lilavois has predicted and his side fails to make the playoffs, then all 2011/2012 season ticket holders will have their 2012/2013 season tickets paid for by the Bolts.
Tickets start at just $12 and are on sale at www.boltsoccer.com or by calling (714) 321-9898.
Indoor soccer is fast paced, high scoring, and constant drama. BELIEVE IN DESTINY! BELIEVE IN THE BOLTS!
