Winston Salem, NC - Sports Xtras is pleased to announce that Winston Salem, North Carolina has been selected this year for the annual American Indoor Football League (AIF) team owners meeting. The annual meeting is held to cover new and existing team rules and regulations for the coming football season. Roderick Hinton, owner of the host team The Winston Wildcats, is very happy to be selected this year by the league. Roderick Hinton further stated that Winston Salem has a lot to offer for the sport of professional indoor football and is looking forward to seeing the sport arrive. The AIF football league includes the following 14 teams. The AIS Panthers of Reading, PA; The Atlanta Vultures of Atlanta, GA; The Buffalo Lighting of Buffalo, NY; The Central Florida Jaguars of Lakeland, FL; The Chicago Blitz of Villa Park, IL; The CSRA Gladiators of Aiken, SC; The Maryland Eagles of Laurel, MD; The Philadelphia Yellow Jackets of Philadelphia, PA; The Saginaw Sting of Saginaw, MI; The Savannah Steam of Savannah, GA; The Triangle Torch of Raleigh, NC; The Western Michigan AIF Team of Muskegon, MI; The Winston Wildcats of Winston Salem, NC; and The York Capitals of York, PA.
Winston-Salem is a city in and the county seat of Forsyth County, North Carolina. With a 2013 estimated population of 235,527, it is the second largest municipality in the Piedmont Triad region and the fifth largest city in the state. Winston-Salem is home to the tallest office building in the region formerly the Wachovia Building and now known locally as the Wells Fargo Center. Winston-Salem is called the "Twin City" for its dual heritage and "City of the Arts and Innovation" for its dedication to fine arts and theater and technological research. "Camel City" is a reference to the city's historic involvement in the tobacco industry related to locally based R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company's Camel cigarettes. Winston-Salem is also known for its traditional furniture company. Many locals refer to the city as "Winston" in informal speech. In 2012, the city was listed among the 10 best places to retire in the U.S. by CBS Money Watch.
