American Hockey League Announces 2015 Preseason Schedule

September 17, 2015 - American Hockey League (AHL) News Release

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. ... The American Hockey League announced today its composite 2015 preseason schedule, leading up to the start of the league's 80th campaign next month.

The AHL enters the 2015-16 season with 30 teams - one for each affiliate in the National Hockey League - including five new clubs in California as part of the creation of a new Pacific Division: the Bakersfield Condors, Ontario Reign, San Diego Gulls, San Jose Barracuda and Stockton Heat.

Formed in 1936 and celebrating its 80th-anniversary season in 2015-16, the American Hockey League serves as the top development league for the players, coaches, managers, executives, broadcasters and staff of all 30 National Hockey League teams. More than 88 percent of today's NHL players are American Hockey League graduates, and for the 14th year in a row, more than 6 million fans attended AHL games across North America in 2014-15. Through the years, the AHL has been home to more than 100 future members of the Hockey Hall of Fame.

The AHL's 2015-16 regular season begins on Fri., Oct. 9.
