
Amazing Run from NASL Clubs in U.S. Open Cup Comes to an End

NEW YORK, NY (July 9, 2014) - The Carolina RailHawks and Atlanta Silverbacks of the North American Soccer League (NASL) have concluded their Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup ( #NASLTheCup) efforts with two excellent matches this evening, ultimately coming up just short in their efforts to reach the next stage of this national competition
"We're all very proud of the RailHawks and Silverbacks effort tonight a nd the efforts from all of our clubs throughout the tournament," sai d NASL Commissioner Bill Peterson. "This is a great competition and the accomplishments of all our clubs this year is a tremendous testament to the level of play in NASL after three years in the U.S. Open Cup competition. This is the type of effort and action NASL fans enjoy at every match and with the NASL Fall Season kicking off this weekend, our clubs are showing the continued growth and quality of the NASL."
In only the third year in the U.S. Open Cup, the NASL teams have outscored their opposition 88 to 68 in 47 total games while posting a 25-3-19 overall record along with 14 shutouts.
