Amarillo Venom Travel to San Angelo to Battle Bandits

April 4, 2014 - Lone Star Football League (LSFL)
Amarillo Venom News Release

SAN ANGELO, Texas - The Amarillo Venom (3-0, LSFL) will look to remain on top of the LSFL standings as they go on the road to the Foster Communications Coliseum to provide a snakebite to the San Angelo Bandits (1-1, LSFL) on April 5 at 7:05 p.m. While the Venom were able to defeat the Rio Grande Valley Sol in LSFL action last week, the Bandits were provided with a bye after taking a 79-46 loss against the Sol in Hidalgo on March 24.

Leading the Venom will be quarterback Brendan Crawford, who provided a spark in the second quarter to propel the Venom past Rio Grande Valley with 13 completions on 23 attempts, two passing touchdowns and one rushing touchdown. Aiding Crawford will be wide receiver Raymond Johnson, who caught two touchdown passes and 77 yards on five catches guided Amarillo to victory.

Defensively, the Venom will be anchored by defensive back Tae Evans. The West Texas A&M product intercepted two passes against Rio Grande Valley, which sealed the Venom win.

On the other hand, San Angelo is led by the Bandit defense. The Bandits defense has been dominant with seven turnovers in their first two games of the season, forcing four interceptions and three fumbles. However, the Bandit offense has dealt with turning over the ball in their last contest, giving up three interceptions in their road loss to Rio Grande Valley.

Despite the offensive miscues, the Bandits are very capable of scoring and scoring often. This is evident by scoring 28 points in the first quarter against the Sol.

Also of note for San Angelo is that nearly half of the roster had spent time with the Abilene Bombers in the 2013 season.

History between the Venom and the Bandits have been even thus far, winning one game each. While the history with San Angelo has been mixed, the Amarillo Venom did clinch their first LSFL championship at the Foster Communications Coliseum.

Tickets for this game are free for Venom season ticket holders who indeed make the trip to San Angelo. For those who cannot make the trip, Joe Daddy's in Amarillo will host a Venom away game watch party to cheer on the Venom as they seek to keep their unblemished record intact. Joe Daddy's is located at 2108 Paramount Boulevard and will start airing the game fifteen minutes before game-time.

The Amarillo Venom are a proud member of the LSFL. For more information and tickets, contact the Amarillo Venom office at (806) 350-7277.
