Amarillo Venom News Release
The Amarillo Dusters announced their official 24-man roster for the opening week of the 2004 season on Monday.
"We had a highly competitive training camp, and we were pleasantly surprised with the performance of our guys," said Dusters Director of Football Operations Warren McCarty.
"The bottom line is that we had to decide on the 24 best football players to help us in week one. That's not to say that our roster won't change several times, because it will. It's the nature of the business. But for now, we're excited about who we're going with. Cutting players on Sunday morning wasn't easy for Coach Carthel and it wasn't easy for me either. We took our time and made decisions as a staff, and we made every decision based on what was best for the Dusters. We believe the Dusters fans will be fired up on Saturday night when we go to war with Lubbock."
Later in the week the Dusters will declare which of the 24 players will be placed on the taxi squad, injured reserve, and who will suit up on game day.
