
Alliance of American Football Holds Protect Or Pick QB Draft

LAS VEGAS - The Alliance of American Football held its first-ever "Protect or Pick" QB Draft last night, live on CBS Sports Network from the new Esports Arena Las Vegas at The Luxor. Hosted by Super Bowl MVP and Alliance head of player development Hines Ward, alongside Super Bowl Champion analysts Kurt Warner and Trent Dilfer, the San Diego Fleet protected Josh Johnson (San Diego) as the first overall selection.
The Atlanta Legends, Memphis Express and San Antonio Commanders followed and protected hometown quarterbacks, Aaron Murray (Georgia), Troy Cook (University of Tennessee at Martin) and Dustin Vaughan (West Texas A&M), respectively.
The Birmingham Iron, Arizona Hotshots, Orlando Apollos and Salt Lake Stallions opted to pick, selecting Luis Perez (Texas A&M-Commerce), Trevor Knight (Texas A&M), Garrett Gilbert (Southern Methodist) and Josh Woodrum (Liberty) to complete the first round.
Each Alliance team will bring an 85-man active roster to training camp in San Antonio on January 4.

About The Alliance of American Football
Led by some of the most respected football minds in the game, The Alliance of American Football is a dynamic professional football league fueled by an unprecedented Alliance between players, fans and the game. Founded by TV and film producer Charlie Ebersol and Hall of Famer Bill Polian, The Alliance will feature eight teams with 52-player rosters playing a 10-week regular season schedule in the spring beginning February 9, 2019 on CBS, followed by two playoff rounds and culminating with the championship game the weekend of April 26-28, 2019.
