All Teams Alive in UFL Playoff Race
Published on November 7, 2010 under United Football League (UFL 1) News Release
JACKSONVILLE, FL - Sunday, November 7, 2010 - A 44-yard fourth quarter field goal by Fabrizzio Scaccia earned the Sacramento Mountain Lions a 27-24 victory over the Las Vegas Locos on Saturady night to keep all five United Football League teams in the hunt for a berth in the 2010 Championship Game.
The 5-2 Las Vegas Locos have already qualified for a chance to defend the William Hambrecht Trophy in the season finale at Rosenblatt Stadium in Omaha on November 27 (live on Versus, 11am CDT / 12pm EDT).
The Sacramento Mountain Lions improved to 3-4 and now know that they have to defeat the Omaha Nighthawks (3-3) at Hornet Stadium on Saturday, November 13, before watching events unfold during their Week 10 bye. Defeat will serve as an eliminator, while a 4-4 finish could force a tiebreaker provided other results go their way.
"Our hopes are still alive and our focus now shifts to what is really a playoff game with Omaha and we hope other results go for us," said Mountain Lions head coach DENNIS GREEN. "Hopefully we will get another 20,000 fans into Hornet Stadium and we can play good football and win for them next Saturday."

A look at the other contenders
The Florida Tuskers hold second place in the standings at 3-3 in a bid to force a repeat of last season's Championship Game match up against Las Vegas. The Tuskers have destiny in their own hands. A win at home to the Hartford Colonials (2-4) on Thursday at the Florida Citrus Bowl (live on HNet 7pm EDT) would set up a potential mouthwatering winner takes all clash in Omaha against the Nighthawks in Week 10.
The Omaha Nighthawks, despite having dropped from a 3-1 lead in the standings to 3-3 behind the Tuskers, also have a 3-3 record and destiny in their own hands. Win in Sacramento next week and gain revenge at home over Florida and the city of Omaha will have a home team playing in the Championship Game.
For the Hartford Colonials at 2-4 the first order of business will be to win in Orlando in Week 9 to force a tie in the standings with the Florida Tuskers. That coupled with a Week 10 home win over Las Vegas would mean Chris Palmer's team can take their chances in a tiebreaker at 4-4, provided the Nighthawks are not in the equation having beaten the Colonials twice already to win the head to head. So the Colonials need the Nighthawks to lose both their remaining games.
If, at the end of the season, two or more clubs finish with the best won-lost-tied percentage, the following steps will be taken to determine which two teams will play for the UFL Championship:
1. Head to head among tied teams
2. Strength of victory over all opponents at the conclusion of the season
3. Most points scored at the conclusion of the season
4. Points differential at the conclusion of the season
5. Fewest points conceded at the conclusion of the season
6. Best record on the road in all games
