Colorado Mammoth News Release
DENVER - Transition player Joey Cupido, who in May became the first player in a decade to be named to the National Lacrosse League's All-Rookie Team after being selected in the Entry Draft in the fifth round or later, is one of six more signings announced by the Mammoth on Friday. Joining Cupido are fellow transition players Cam Holding, Jamie Lincoln and Cameron Mann, forward Carter Bender and defenseman Patrick O'Meara.
"We're now at 20 players under contract - far more than any other team," said Mammoth president & general manager Steve Govett.
Cupido's 101 loose balls in 2013 were tops on the team, and sixth-most in the NLL among non-face-off men. He led the Mammoth with 20 forced turnovers, tied for tenth-best in the league. The Hamilton, Ontario native scored six goals and added nine assists in 15 games played, and didn't commit a penalty in the process.
Lincoln totaled 15 goals and 10 assists last season while playing the majority of his minutes out of the back door. Holding's 86 loose balls were third-most on the squad.
Bender was acquired in July in a trade with the Bandits. Mann was a fourth-round draft pick in September. O'Meara is the first free agent Colorado has signed since free agency opened two days ago.
