
All-Purpose Player Steven Turner Re-Signs with Tarpons for 2013

FORT MYERS, FL - The Florida Tarpons are excited to announce the 1st player signing for the 2013 UIFL season, with All Purpose Player Steven Turner. Turner played in 11 games for the Tarpons, including the Southern Conference Championship, and Ultimate Bowl 2.
Turner was voted Honorable Mention for All-Purpose Players in the UIFL for the 2012 season. Originally recruited to play Defensive Line, Turner played Center, Offensive Line, Defensive End, Nose Guard, Linebacker, and Fullback.
On the Offensive side of the ball, he rushed 21 times for 71 yards, and 4 TD's and two 2-point conversions, he caught 7 passes for 55 yards, and 1 TD, and one 2-point conversion. He finished 4th in scoring on the team. His primary job on Offense was to protect QB Chris Wallace.
"I'm excited to have Steven return for another season! Not only was he an asset on the field, he was an equal asset off the field." Said Team Owner Andrew Haines. "Steven was always ready to do community events, and get involved with the kids in the area."
On the Defensive side of the ball Turner has 10 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, 2 pass break ups, 2 passes defended, and a fumble recovery.
"I enjoy coaching Steven, he is always willing to do whats best for the team. When you have guys like that on the team you can build a championship caliber team" Added Head Coach Michael Taylor.

The Tarpons finished the 2012 regular season with an 11-0, and hosted the Southern Conference Championship game against the Lakeland Raiders. The Tarpons were crowned Southern Conference Champions with the victory over Lakeland, and advanced to the Ultimate Bowl 2. Having the #1 seed for the post season, the Tarpons in their first season hosted the league championship game at Germain Arena, however the Tarpons were defeated by the visiting Cincinnati Commandos.
