June 21, 2007 - National Football League Europa (NFLE) News Release

Quarterback J.T. O'SULLIVAN (Chicago Bears) of the Frankfurt Galaxy and running back DERRICK ROSS (Kansas City Chiefs) of the Cologne Centurions were named the Offensive Co-Most Valuable Players while Centurions defensive end JASON HALL (Carolina Panthers) was named the Defensive MVP, the NFL Europa League announced today. Hamburg Sea Devils head coach VINCE MARTINO was named Coach of the Year.

O'Sullivan led the Galaxy to a 7-3 record and a berth in the Yello Strom World Bowl XV this Saturday, where Frankfurt will defend its title against Hamburg. The Bears' quarterback led the NFLEL in passer rating (104.8) and passing yards (2,201) while tying for the league lead with 16 touchdown passes. The former Cal-Davis standout recorded the only two 300-yard games in NFL Europa this season, including a league-best 374-yard performance in Week 9 against the Sea Devils.

Ross was the NFLEL's leading rusher with 802 yards and four 100-yard games this season for Cologne. The Kansas City Chiefs' running back totaled a league-best 933 yards from scrimmage (802 rushing, 131 receiving) and scored five touchdowns as the Centurions posted a 6-4 record.

Hall, Ross' teammate with Cologne, set a franchise record with 12 sacks as the Centurions boasted the No. 1 ranked defense in NFL Europa (256.1 yards per game). The Carolina Panthers' defensive end also tied a league record by recording a sack in seven consecutive games.

The league also announced its all-NFL Europa League team. A total of 12 NFL teams were represented as the Miami Dolphins and New York Jets each placed an NFL-best two players on the squad. Among the six NFL Europa teams, Cologne (8) and Hamburg (8) tied for the lead with Frankfurt (7) right behind them.

Included among the 15 All-NFL Europa League team selections who will play in World Bowl XV are Hamburg wide receiver MARCUS MAXWELL (San Francisco 49ers), guard PETE MC MAHON (Jacksonville Jaguars), tackle JEREMY PARQUET (St. Louis Rams), Frankfurt quarterback O'Sullivan (Chicago Bears), guard MATT MC CHESNEY (New York Jets) and cornerback SHIRDONYA MITCHELL (Miami Dolphins).

Maxwell led NFL Europa with seven touchdown receptions and finished with 32 catches for 499 yards (15.6-yard average). Hamburg teammates McMahon and Parquet each started all 10 games and solidified the offensive line for the No. 2 ranked scoring team in the league (23.1 points per game).

Offensive co-MVP O'Sullivan was protected by a strong line led by McChesney, who helped the Galaxy average an NFLEL-best 355.5 yards per game and 25.4 points per contest. Mitchell, who recorded 31 tackles and nine passes defensed, tied for second in the league with two interceptions, including an 81-yard interception-return touchdown.
