Alejandro Guido Named to Team of the Week after Scoring vs. Phoenix Rising FC

San Diego - Midfielder Alejandro Guido was named to the USL Championship Team of the Week after helping SD Loyal to a 3-2 win against Phoenix Rising FC in a Week 3 match on March 26.

Guido was the spark SD Loyal needed after SD Loyal allowed Phoenix to tie the game 2-2 after taking a 2-0 lead. Guido helped his team with a 76th minute goal that sent a rowdy Wild Horse Pass crowd into near silence. It was Guido's first goal of the 2022 USL Championship season. And it was one for the highlight reel.

Guido's score was the type of goal that could be in every highlight reel. The Chula Vista native blasted a right-footed shot after finding a window of space. He dribbled up field before defenders closed in and fired his shot, blasting it into the left wall of the Phoenix net past goalkeeper Ben Lundt. The midfielder finished his third start of the season completing 61 of 72 passes and winning 12 of 15 duels. Guido is no stranger to this honor. He was named to Team of the Week several times in 2021, including in back-to-back weeks in October. He has been a key part to a fast start by coach Landon Donovan's team this season.

SD Loyal (3-1-0, 9 points) is preparing for its upcoming home match against El Paso Locomotive Sunday April 3 (2 p.m.) at Torero Stadium.
