Albany Empire Add Two AFL Veterans to 2019 Roster
ALBANY, NY - The Albany Empire announce that two players have been assigned to the team roster on the ninth day of free agency. Both players assigned have been named First Team All-Arena at least once. Of the two players assigned, one was on the Empire roster for the 2018 inaugural season. Per League and team rules, terms are not disclosed. The free agency signing period for the Arena Football League began on Monday, March 4.
Jeramie Richardson, Linebacker/Fullback
Hailing from San Antonio, Texas, Jeramie Richardson brings an 'iron man' mentality to the Empire. Richardson debuted indoors with the San Angelo Stampede Express in the Indoor Football League. In 2011, Richardson had a brief stint with the Utah Blaze before heading back to the IFL to play with the West Texas Roughnecks where he was named Second Team All-IFL. He made the jump back to the AFL a year later, playing with the Cleveland Gladiators in 2012. After playing with four teams over the next three years, Richardson made his way to Philadelphia where he won an ArenaBowl with the Soul in 2016. That same season, Richardson was named Second Team All-Arena for the first time in his career. He would once again receive Second Team All-Arena honors the following season playing back in Cleveland. Richardson spent 2018 with the Soul and was productive on both sides of the ball. He led the League in rushing yards with 131 and tied for the League lead in rushing touchdowns with eight. On defense, Richardson logged three sacks on his way to his first career First Team All-Arena honors.
Collin Taylor, Wide Receiver
Collin Taylor is excited to return to the Capital Region for the Empire's sophomore season. The former Indiana University receiver enjoyed a nice season with the Empire in 2018, playing in every game and catching 36 passes for 515 yards and nine touchdowns. The wideout also provides security on special teams as he returned 16 kickoffs a season ago. "CT" brings veteran leadership to the Empire, breaking into the League in 2010 with the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgs. Taylor has been active in the community for every team he has played for throughout his career. In 2016, Taylor won the Al Lucas Hero Jason Foundation award for his efforts within the community when he was a member of the Cleveland Gladiators. The former First Team All-Arena wideout was extremely active in the Capital Region community a year ago and looks to continue to be during his second year with the team. Taylor loved the Empire fanbase throughout the entire inaugural season and can't wait to get back to work and finish unfinished business!
Tony Goodman, defensive back, and Elijah Marks, wide receiver, have been placed on Recallable Reassignment.
