Huntington Heroes News Release

CANTON, Ohio -- American Indoor Football League President Andrew G. Haines and Executive Director Gary Tufford announced on Monday, May 8 that the Huntington Heroes have been awarded a forfeit victory over the Canton Legends due the Legends using ineligible players in Saturday's game.

AIFL teams have to fax a 23-man roster to the opposing team and league office 48 hours prior to a game. Canton sent a roster with 21 players on it to Huntington 48 hours prior to the game and a different roster to the league office 24 hours before the game.

Teams can not change their roster under 48 hours to game time and must select the 18 active players from the roster they submit 48 hours prior to the game.

Four of Canton's players were not on the 18-man roster.

"The Canton coach and owner both were aware of the situation," Haines said. "These rules are understood by the teams and both myself and Gary were clear in our verbal and written conversations with Canton before the game. We don't like doing this, but we have to maintain the rules."

Huntington is now 7-2, Canton 5-5. Stats will count for the eligible players.
