AIFL Announces Player Draft

The Atlantic Indoor Football League will hold it's inaugural player draft on Sunday January 22, 2005 in Washington, DC. The draft will consist of ten rounds, with each franchise selecting one free agent in each round.

All players interested in becoming eligible for the leagues 2005 draft, must attend an official AIFL Combine AND score sufficient in the five testing categories. The first league wide combine will be held Sunday October 24, 2004 at the Prince George's Sports & Learning Complex in Landover, Maryland. Other combines will be held throughout the United States, with times and dates being posted on the league website.

Players in this new league will be paid up to $300.00 per game and receive other incentives from their individual teams. The AIFL team rosters will be comprised of 18 active players and 5 inactive players, with an emphasis on teams having local players on their rosters.

Founder and League President Andrew Haines stated, "Our draft theory is to make each franchise very competitive and ensure a very high level of talent throughout the league. We are excited to bring a draft to our fans and think this should help accelerate us to become the premier arena football league in the United States."
