AIFA week six in review

March 13, 2007 - American Indoor Football Association (AIFA) News Release

The war of the unbeatens this weekend went from three teams to just the Mississippi MudCats-

Who are the MudCats? They are the king of the hill in the AIFA today.

Where to begin?

How about in Tallahassee at the Leon Civic Center where the war of the south was unfolding. Two unbeaten expansion clubs? WOW! These MudCats from Mississippi going on the road to hostile territory to face the Titans in Tallahassee. This was nothing but an action packed thriller.

The MudCats were flagged for a mind-blowing 38 penalties, many which spoiled scoring chances. Errors by the MudCats lead to 2 Titans touchdowns. One of The MudCats' top receiver, Josh Smith was ejected from the game! Mississippi injuries forced Coach Brent and his staff to juggle the lineup. With The MudCats back against the wall all night, quarterback Tommy Jones stepped it up and passed for 264 yards and 5 touchdowns, rallying his team to victory. Darryl Carter sealed the deal when he picked off a touchdown pass attempt from quarterback Ben Dougherty with 20 second left in the game. The MudCats winning the game by a mere 4 points, 62-58.

How about a preview of the preseason picks to go to the AIFA championship Bowl: Canton, Ohio from the North vs. Lakeland, Florida from the South.

The Lakeland Thunderbolts put a startling halt to the defending champion Canton Legends 12 game-winning streak with a come-from-behind 39-36 victory at the Lakeland Center on Sunday. This was definitely a game to remember. After missing two field goals in a row, fans were on the edge of they're seats as Kicker Steve Kratz kicked the winning 30 yard field goal as time expired in the game.

Congratulations Head Coach Teddy Keaton! Great Win!

Welcome to the Big Leagues Baltimore!

The Reading Express dominated the Baltimore Blackbirds 78-6. Not much to say on this one. Lets pick up the pace Baltimore!

MudCat in the AFL!

Congratulations Gary Jenkins! The 6'4, 320 lb. OL was just signed by the AFL New Orleans Voodoo. Welcome home Gary! The AIFA will miss you.
