AIFA Seeks New Television Partner
Published on April 15, 2008 under American Indoor Football Association (AIFA) News Release
BALTIMORE, Maryland (April 15, 2008) - The American Indoor Football Association announced today it is ending its relationship with Simply Me TV and will seek a new television partner. The decision came after receipt of a letter from the President of Simply 4Me Inc. (the parent corporation of Simply Me TV), stating that the television network would be financially unable to fulfill its contractual obligations.
The AIFA announced a $2.5-million three-year contract with Simply Me TV during the league's 2007 Summer Meetings in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. The agreement called for the live production, transmission and distribution of fourteen AIFA games for the 2008 season, with similar TV schedules for 2009 and 2010.
"We tried very hard to make this relationship work," said AIFA co-founder John Morris. "We promoted it heavily. but there came a point where we needed to move in a new direction for the best interest of the league."
The AIFA is currently considering proposals from several broadcast entities for coverage of the league's remaining telecast schedule. Negotiations are ongoing.
"Right now our first priority is to try and restore the remaining telecasts, utilizing the services of new partners," said Morris. "At a later point, we will review the Simply Me TV situation again and consider any appropriate action."
