AIFA Announces Opening Game For National TV Package

Published on October 26, 2007 under American Indoor Football Association (AIFA) News Release

BALTIMORE, Maryland (October 26, 2007) - The AIFA-finalist Reading Express and the Baltimore Mariners will meet in the debut of the American Indoor Football Association's national television package on March 8th, 2008. The game will be played at the Sovereign Center in Reading, Pennsylvania.

The game is the first of 14 regular season contests scheduled to be televised by the league's TV partner, Simply Me TV. The syndication package also includes coverage of the AIFA playoffs and league championship. The televised schedule can be modified with two weeks notice, allowing for flexibility in selecting games with the greatest impact on league standings and playoff position.

"We felt like the Express deserved the opportunity to kick off our (national television) season," said AIFA co-founder John Morris from league headquarters in Baltimore. "They had a phenomenal season last year, and they are a great organization.

"I've been in Reading when they've had 4,000 people in there, and it's an unbelievable environment. You can feel it in the air. There's not a more exciting place to watch an indoor football game than Reading, Pennsylvania."

The AIFA announced the $2.5 million contract with Simply Me TV during the league's summer meetings in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. The remainder of the regular season television schedule will be released following review by the league's owners.

The AIFA has scheduled league meetings for the first weekend of November in Baltimore.
