AHL names Bill Scott new manager of hockey operations

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. ... American Hockey League President and CEO David Andrews announced today that Bill Scott has joined the league as manager of hockey operations.
Scott replaces Nathan McFadden, who recently left after six seasons to join the front office of the AHL's Toronto Marlies in a similar capacity.
A native of Unionville, Ont., Scott comes to the AHL after three seasons in the hockey operations department at the ECHL, where his responsibilities included managing team rosters and overseeing transactions, maintaining the league's databases and archives, managing off-ice officiating crews and assisting in the construction of the league's playing schedule.
Scott, a graduate of Michigan State University, will assist AHL vice president of hockey operations Jim Mill in the day-to-day management of the department.
In operation since 1936, the AHL continues to serve as the top development league for all 30 National Hockey League teams. More than 80 percent of today's NHL players are American Hockey League graduates, and for the fifth year in a row, more than 6.3 million fans attended AHL games across North America in 2005-06.
