NEW YORK – The Arena Football League and U.S. Army's new outreach program, AFL-U.S. Army Boot Camp, began today in the first of five markets. The Dallas Desperados took the program to Irving High School, located just outside of Dallas, where more than 300 students took part in today's boot camp.

AFL-U.S. Army Boot Camp, which focuses on teamwork, fitness and exercise education, will also be conducted at high schools in Chicago, Los Angeles, New York and Tampa, Fla.

"We continue to be proud and honored to partner with the U.S. Army. Our grassroots initiatives have expanded each year and the recruiting results reflect that enhanced activation. The Boot Camp program is a key component to tying national awareness with local integration," said GLENN HORINE, AFL Properties Executive Vice President. "Our positive track record with the U.S. Army is testimony to our sport and the loyalty fans have toward our partners."

Through the program, AFL players and coaches and U.S. Army battalion officials speak with students at local high schools during physical education classes about the importance of physical education. Students also participate in AFL flag-football scrimmages. Autograph signings and raffles for AFL memorabilia are also part of the program.
