AFL Awards Week 17 Players of the Week

LAS VEGAS - The Arena Football League has announced that Jacksonville's Derrick Ross, Tampa Bay's James McClinton and Arizona's Rod Windsor have been named as the Under Armour Offensive Player, Riddell Defensive Player and AFL Playmaker of the Week for Week 17, respectively. In addition to these awards, the AFL has awarded Jacksonville's Joe Hills the Cutters Catch of the Week, while the AFL Highlight of the Week was awarded to Tampa Bay's James McClinton. UNDER ARMOUR OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Ross (6'0, 250, Tarleton State) rushed 14 times for a game-high 64 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Jacksonville Sharks to a 46-32 victory over the Los Angeles KISS (7-8) at Veterans Memorial Arena on Saturday night. The perennial All-Arena performer leads the AFL with 389 rushing yards on 102 carries and 20 touchdowns in 2016. The Sharks (6-9) will host the Tampa Bay Storm on Saturday, July 30 at 7 p.m. ET on WatchESPN to finish the regular season.

RIDDELL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: McClinton (6'1, 285, Kansas) led the Storm defense as they defeated the Portland Steel, 41-40, this past weekend at Amalie Arena. The six-year veteran blocked an extra point and blocked the potential game-winning kick on the final play of the game that sealed the victory. On the season, McClinton has recorded 15.5 total tackles, 3.0 tackles for loss, 3.0 sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery in 2016. The Storm (2-13) travel to play the Jacksonville Sharks (6-9) on Saturday, July 30 at 7 p.m. ET on WatchESPN to finish the regular season.

AFL PLAYMAKER OF THE WEEK: Windsor (6'2, 215, Western New Mexico) helped lead the Arizona Rattlers to a 68-20 victory over the Cleveland Gladiators at Talking Stick Resort Arena this past weekend. The fifth-year veteran hauled in seven receptions for 75 yards and five touchdowns. Windsor is No. 2 in the AFL with 145 receptions for 1,667 receiving yards, 48 receiving touchdowns and 300 points in 2016. The Rattlers (13-3) finished their regular-season schedule and have secured the No. 1 seed in the National Conference and will begin the postseason by hosting the Portland Steel on Saturday, August 6 at 10 p.m. ET on CBS Sports Network.

CUTTERS CATCH OF THE WEEK: Hills, (6'4, 220, Tennessee State) wasn't going to let going over the wall stop him from making a 4-yard touchdown grab in Saturday's 46-32 win over the LA KISS at Veterans Memorial Arena. The Offensive Player of the Year and MVP candidate hauled in eight catches for 69 yards and three touchdowns in the game. For the season, Hills has caught 154 receptions for 1,928 yards and 54 touchdowns.

AFL HIGHLIGHT OF THE WEEK : The Tampa Bay Storm and Portland Steel game came down to one final crucial play on Saturday at Amalie Arena. With 3.9 seconds left and trailing 41-40, Portland lined up for a 23-yard game winning field goal to have it blocked by Tampa Bay Storm DL Cameron McClinton. McClinton's block helped seal the victory and earn the Storm their second win of the season.

Under Armour Offensive Player candidates included: Arizona's Nick Davila, Jacksonville's Tommy Grady and Portland's Nick Truesdell.

Riddell Defensive Player candidates included: Arizona's Tyre Glasper and Rodney Fritz, Jacksonville's Greg Reid and Portland's Matt Pierce.

AFL Playmaker candidates included: Jacksonville's Jordan Miller, Tampa Bay's Kendrick Ings and James McClinton.
