EVERETT HAWKS (0-3) AT TRI-CITIES FEVER (1-2)

MONDAY, APRIL 30, 2007 - Toyota Center (5,700) 10:00 P.M. ET

* Broadcast via B2 Networks

The Hawks travel in-state for the first time in 2007 to take on the expansion Tri-Cities Fever, who are fresh off their first af2 win. Everett, on the other hand, is still searching for its first victory. The Hawks have had a rough start. This week's game marks the team's fourth straight road show to begin the season. Turnovers have doomed Everett in its first three losses. In Everett's Week 4 loss at Boise (70-34), the team gave the ball away four times (2 INTs, 2 fumbles). They have 15 turnovers through three games, averaging five per contest. Despite their most recent result, the Hawks showed some positives on offense with QB BEN BOWLING (304 yards passing, 5 TDs, 2 INTs) and WR/LB PHIL GOODMAN (12 catches for 135 yards, three TDs) turning in solid outings overall. Defensively, DB CHARLES EALY leads the squad with 15.5 tackles, one interception and five pass breakups. The Fever return home this week after scoring a 49-44 road win last Saturday against the Central Valley Coyotes. Tri-Cities is led by Head Coach TONY WELLS, who began 2006 as an assistant with Everett before taking over the head job just before the midway point of the season. Wells made a 0-6 team respectable over the final 10 games, going 4-6. Only one of Everett's final six defeats was by more than six points. This season Wells brought over two of his best players from last year, QB BRIAN BAKER and WR J.R. THOMAS. Baker (7 TD passes, 0 INTs) and Thomas (5 catches, 98 yards, 3 TDs, were both key to the Tri-Cities win at Central Valley in Week 4. Defensively, DB JAMIE HATTLEY led the squad with 13.0 tackles, five pass breakups and one interception. His performance earned him the af2 Defensive Player of the Week Award. LB BRIAN GORDON also had a breakout game with 2.5 tackles, one sack and one forced fumble. The Hawks need to protect the ball and get off to a strong start in order to stay with the Fever, who are eager to give their fans a home win.
