The regular season has ended, and the playoffs have arrived. When the 2005 season started Apr. 1, 20 teams had aspirations of advancing to postseason play. Now 12 teams have a shot of taking home the 2005 Arena Cup title. Basically, it's a case of either "win or go home". So, what are waiting for? Let's get started!
AMERICAN CONFERENCE-FIRST ROUND
#3 Louisville at #6 Macon-Usually, the higher seeded team gets to host a first-round playoff game. But, thanks to a scheduling conflict in the Louisville area, the Knights get to host this Saturday's contest against the red hot Fire, which enters postseason play having won five straight games. As for Macon, the Knights hope to bounce back after losing a heartbreaker on the road at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 53-52 last weekend.
#5 Green Bay at #4 Wilkes-Barre/Scranton-Speaking of the Pioneers, thanks to the dramatic win over the Knights, they'll host a first-round game themselves against the visiting Blizzard, who snapped a three-game skid by routing South Georgia on the 78-44. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton comes into the game with back-to-back wins.
NATIONAL CONFERENCE-FIRST ROUND
#6 Amarillo at #3 Oklahoma City-Both teams enter this game going in opposite directions, as the Yard Dawgz are coming off a thrilling 57-50 win over in-state foe Tulsa, while the Dusters have lost four games in a row.
#5 Quad City at #4 Rio Grande Valley-Like the Louisville Fire, the Steamwheelers have also won five games in a row, and enter the playoffs with a lot of momentum. As for the Dorados, they will host their first-ever playoff game in their brief franchise history, having gone 7-1 at home during the regular season.
