ACHL Reaches Deal with WHA2

William Coffey, President of the Atlantic Coast Hockey League, announced today that an agreement has been reached between the ACHL and the WHA2. Terms of the agreement are to remain private between both parties.

The agreement ends all legal issues between the Atlantic Coast Hockey League and the WHA2. The ACHL continues to prepare for its second year of operation with its franchises in Knoxville, Tennessee; Fayetteville, North Carolina; and Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The WHA2 has been granted the existing franchises in Miami, Florida; Orlando, Florida; and Jacksonville, Florida.

The Atlantic Coast Hockey League continues to actively secure expansion franchises in a number of southeastern cities. On going conversations continue with arena managers and ownership groups and the ACHL is planning on making a number of announcements regarding new franchise locations by June 1st.

The Knoxville Ice Bears, Cape Fear (Fayetteville) Fire Antz, and the soon to be re-named Winston-Salem franchise have been actively selling season tickets and corporate sponsorships since the end of the 2002-03 hockey season.
