ABA to support Chicagoland All-Star Classic Weekend

Indianapolis, IN -- Ricardo Richardson, ABA EVP, today announced the ABA will support the Chicagoland All-Star Classic Weekend, a major event of The Support Group, a well-known Chicago non-profit organization which provides academic support services to inner city youth in several target areas. It has established a number of outreach programs to serve low-income and minority communities. Through various fundraisings events like the Chicagoland All-Star Classic Weekend proceeds raised assist in accomplishing the organizations mission to create an environment that will provide the best opportunity for young men and women to understand the importance of excelling academically and athletically. An emphasis is placed on education, test-taking skills, athletic conditioning and character building.

According to Richardson, "We are pleased to be associated with The Support Group. The work they are doing in Chicago is outstanding and could well be a model for similar programs nationwide."

The Executive Director of The Support Group, Benny Henry added, "We are pleased and proud that the ABA has chosen to work with us. We have important work to do and the ABA's support is much appreciated."

As Co-founder of The Sport Group, Tim Hardaway, President, General Manager and co-owner of the ABA's Miami Pit Bulls, enjoys spending free time with his family and supporting community programs in Chicago and Miami as does another Co-founder, Antoine Walker, Boston Celtics' star. Together with Benny Henry, they are planning one of the key events this summer, the All-Star Classic Celebrity Golf Outing, Thursday, June 23rd at The Odyssey Country Club in Tinley Park, Illinois. This year, participants will have an opportunity to play with an incredible group of NBA and NFL All-Stars and other celebrities - with the unique twist of an Auction to determine the pairings. It should be run and exciting - and of course, the proceeds go to a very valuable cause. This year, Rodney Harrison of the New England Patriots is being honored. He is a big supporter of The Support Group and the Big Brother/Big Sister organization.
