
ABA to play in Bossier-Shreveport in 2008

Indianapolis, IN. The American Basketball Association (ABA) today announced that the Shreveport-Bossier Stallions would begin play in the league starting in November, 2008. According to Joe Newman, "We are very pleased to add our first Louisiana team to the league. We previously had commitments from both New Orleans and Lake Charles, but the hurricanes delayed those plans. Rod Evans and Thea Walker, two very sound businesspeople and basketball enthusiasts have made the decision to play in Shreveport-Bossier, a great area that fits beautifully with our division, and have been doing some terrific things to get set for the 2008 season. They attended our spring league owners meeting. We are very confident that they'll have an outstanding organization."
Roderick E. Evans is the CEO and President of the Shreveport-Bossier Stallions. He assumed the position in May, 2006. His principal responsibilities as general manager include: strategic planning, Information Systems and Sports management for the company. Rod has 15+ years experience in information technology (IT) and operations management.
Prior to assuming the teams' managing responsibility, he was a founding principal of T3 Product & Service Solutions, a private management consulting firm specializing in the development of enterprise solutions in real estate, technology and defense industries. In service to his country, he served in the White House under former President George H.W. Bush as Systems Coordinator for networks and computer hardware supporting Marine One and the Presidental Helicopter Squadron. He is a graduate of Texas A & M University and Amberton University and holds a BS degree in Computer Science and the MBA degree in Strategic Leadership from Amberton University.
Thea G. Walker is the team's Chief Operating Officer and Director of Corporate Sponsorships. Her principal responsibilities include Corporate Marketing, Ticket Sales, Human Resources and Oversight of Financial Operations to include Accounting. Thea has 15+ years senior management consulting experience in both the public and private sectors.
Ms. Walker was also the co-founder of T3 Product & Service Solutions. She has had professional assignments including employment or consulting engagements with Grant Thornton, Bank of America, the U.S. Navy, Department of Housing & Urban Development. She is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati and Indiana University and holds a BA in Marketing and M.Ed in counseling psychology from the University of Cincinnati and an MBA degree in finance from Indiana University where she was a Danforth Foundation Scholar and Consortium Fellowship recipient.
Char Holland will serve as Director of Marketing and here responsibilities will include community marketing, community outreach and event services. She has several years of experience in these areas.
"We've been talking about doing this for several years," stated Evans. "We understand completely the complex nature of the business of basketball and all of the things that must be done to be successful on and off the court. We will be prepared and we will be successful."
"We looked at several markets," added Ms. Walker. "Rod and I do our research. And we selected Shreveport-Bossier for many reasons. Based on the initial response we've had, we were right on target."
