ABA to create new celebrity sports and entertainment advisory committee

September 11, 2006 - American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release

Indianapolis, IN. The American Basketball Association (ABA) today announced that it will create a new Celebrity Sports & Entertainment Advisory Committee. According to Joe Newman, ABA CEO, "The interest in the ABA from the sports world, including NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL and NASCAR as well as interest from the entertainment community has been phenomenal over the past few months. A week doesn't go by that we don't get calls from fabulous celebrities from the world of TV, movies, Broadway and music and from sports legends from every league asking about getting involved with the ABA. Evidently, we have captured the attention of a lot of people who want to be a part of bringing quality sports and entertainment to the fans at affordable prices. And the best part is that these wonderful celebrities don't want to be passive. They want to dig in and help the ABA achieve its goals. The ABA Celebrity Sports & Entertainment Advisory Committee will be active."

"Beginning next week," Newman added, "we will begin to highlight some of these celebrities on the web site (www.abalive.com) and include bios, pictures and other information about them. It will add an interesting new twist and should be a lot of fun." For more information, follow www.abalive.com.

Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
