ABA officials to convene in Rochester, New York

October 7, 2005 - American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release

Rochester, NY. On Friday, October 7th and Saturday, October 8th, approximately 150 ABA officials from throughout the Midwest, East and Southern regions as well as Canada will meet at the Clarion Riverside Hotel/Convention Center in Rochester, New York. Prior to the official meeting, Tom Chichester, ABA Director of Officials, will host a social gathering at Bennigans Restaurant on Friday evening.

The sessions will cover in detail the rules of the ABA game as well as guest speaker, Mike Kitts, a recognized NCAA official who worked the NCAA Final Four Championship Game. Also included will be a visit to the Blue Cross Arena, home venue of the ABA Rochester Razorsharks. The remainder of the meeting will include schedule assignments, responsibilities, travel, ABA philosophy and game situations.

According to Chichester, "This is the first of two meetings; the second being October 29th at the LAX Radisson in Los Angeles with another 150 officials attending. In all, the ABA has recruited and ABA qualified nearly 300 extremely talented officials. We are very excited about the upcoming season and are preparing ourselves much as the players and coaches prepare themselves. The ABA game is fast-paced, unique and needs quality officials. We have them."
