
ABA names three awards at league meeting

Indianapolis, IN. The American Basketball Association (ABA) presented three awards at the Fall League Meeting in Indianapolis over the weekend.
Orest Hrywnak, Rochester RazorSharks, was named ABA Executive of the Year for putting together a complete organization on and off the court that culminated with the ABA League Championship and the highest average attendance in the league.
Rod Baker, Rochester RazorSharks, was named ABA Coach of the Year for completing the season as the number one team and going on to win the ABA League Championship with two exciting victories at the packed Blue Cross Arena in Rochester.
Richard P. Tinkham, co-founder of the ABA, was presented a Lifetime Achievement Award for providing experience and leadership that has helped make the ABA the largest professional sports league in history - and for helping to bridge the old with the new. (Dick was co-founder and former CEO of the original ABA and co-founder of the original Indiana Pacers).
In making the presentations, Joe Newman, ABA CEO, stated that "each of these men has made a commitment to excellence and are examples of the ABA at its very best. We are proud to have them as part of the league. They set a shining example for all to follow."
