ABA names teams for Freddie Lewis Division
July 7, 2005 - American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release
Indianapolis, IN. The American Basketball Association today named the teams that will be playing in the Freddie Lewis Division starting in November. The teams are: Ohio Aviators, Toledo, Detroit, Columbus, and Pittsburgh.
Dick Tinkham, ABA co-founder and co-founder of the original ABA, stated: "This tribute to #14 is well deserved; Freddie has not received the recognition that he should have received based on his ability and leadership. It is also fitting that he is a co-owner of the Pittsburgh team, a native of the area, and will be playing in his "own" division. Very nice."
The ABA season will open in Pittsburgh with a major event to be announced shortly. For more information, visit www.abalive.com.
Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams. For information on professional minor leagues, please see OSC's basketball section.
