ABA Names All-Stars

January 20, 2006 - American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release

Indianapolis, IN. The American Basketball Association (ABA) today named the first two players chosen for the 2006 ABA All Star Team for the game to be played at the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, Florida on Saturday, February 11th. They are:

East: Tim Hardaway, 6'0" point guard from the Florida Pit Bulls and Texas El-Paso. West:Jerry Dupree, 6'5" forward from the Southern California Legends and USC.

According to Joe Newman, ABA CEO, "Two players will be announced each day for the next 14 days including two alternates for each team. Players selected were nominated by their teams based on performance and leadership. It is remarkable how many great players there are in the ABA and it is a shame we could not have a team the size of an NFL team; so many are deserving. One thing's for sure, the fans will see some outstanding talent. We plan also to name those that will compete in the 3-point shooting contest and the Slam Dunk contest."
