ABA heads to New Orleans in 2005
October 21, 2004 - American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release
Indianapolis, IN. Joe Newman, ABA Co-founder, today announced that New Orleans will be the home to an ABA professional basketball team in 2005. According to Newman, "We've been sitting on this announcement for quite sometime - in fact, Jim McCaa attended our league meetings in Indy and Las Vegas to get prepared. He's quite a guy with great business/basketball background."
Jim currently provides leadership in the multi-campus Delaware Tech & Community College in Delaware City, DE. For 14 years, he's served as basketball coach and counselor for college students advising them on what job skills they should take to be successful in their careers. He is also President/CEO of Pro Tech Engineering, Inc., a company that provides staffing and management of major heavy industrial construction/maintenance projects. He has over 36 years in sports management and as a basketball coach. McCay stated, "I've watched the ABA very closely and am very impressed with the growth of the league and the quality of the ownership group. I'm from Louisiana and formerly coached the Louisiana-Mississipi All-Stars. New Orleans is perfect for the ABA because it is very good quality professional basketball - and very affordable prices. Can we compete with the NBA team there? You bet. Especially when people see how fast and exciting the ABA game is - and are paying $10 for tickets."
For more information, Jim can be reached via email at Jim McCaa@aol.com or in Louisiana at 225 205 5344 and Deleware at 302 836 4282 or 302 983 6544 or visit www.abalive.com.
Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
