ABA farm league making headway
December 11, 2008 - American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release
Louisville, KY. "The Louisville Basketball League (LBL) is starting to move in a forward direction," stated Chuck Rowe, LBL Commissioner. "In less than a month the LBL has been shaping itself as a positive force in the Louisville area."
A couple of key staff members have been added which include Chris Stack as the Director of Business Relations and Dakari Darby as the Director for Player Development. "We already have enough playhers to fill some of our teams, but we are looking for even more players to take part," added Rowe.
The LBL is the first and only official ABA farm league in the country. Players in the LBL will have the chance to be called up to the ABA and earn pro contracts and salaries. At the same time ABA teams can send players to the LBL for an extra look.
"We're excited with the start of the LBL and the work that Chuck has been doing," said Joe Newman, ABA CEO. "We look forward to having a strong farm league for the ABA but understand that it cannot happen over night. It is going to take time and hard work but I know that the staff at the LBL is going to make it happen."
The LBL is more than just a developmental farm league. It is a league about bettering the community and giving another chance to basketball players and coaches who need exposure. For more information, visit www.theL-ABA.com or www.abalive.com.
Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
