Indianapolis, IN. Joe Newman, ABA co-founder, today announced that the professional basketball league has selected Headgear Sportswear, a Virginia-based company, to be the official apparel provider for the ABA. According to Newman, "We have been approached by many companies since our record-setting growth. We looked closely at the quality of the products manufactured, the design and marketing capabilities, the passion and commitment of the company, its personnel and the understanding of the unique diversification of the ABA. We selected Headgear as they scored high in every category. We are extremely pleased and proud to be associated with them."

Jeff Kirschbaum, Headgear VP of Sales, stated, "We competed hard for this agreement. The ABA is growing so rapidly, getting such great national exposure, and has so much tradition and history - it's truly one of a kind. We are very excited about the opportunity to work with the ABA and to maximize the potential that this great league affords. In addition to ABA and team merchandise, we are also excited about introducing all new ABA All-Star Legends jerseys featuring the greats of the past at the upcoming Magic Show in Las Vegas. It should be the talk of the sports apparal world in the upcoming months."

Newman added, "Headgear Sportswear is known for the development of apparel for Black Colleges, the Negro Baseball Museum and Streetball. Their designs and promotions really do capture the urban spirit. We're looking forward to marketing fabulous new jerseys, shirts, T-shirts, and hats all of which will be available very soon."
