ABA Adds Lake Charles, LA to 2011 Expansion Teams

September 2, 2010 - American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release

Indianapolis, IN. The American Basketball Association (ABA) www.abalive.com today announced that it will expand to Lake Charles, LA starting with the 2011 season. "I've known Mike Mullen for about 20 years; he works closely with us overseeing the ABA Radio Network," stated Joe Newman ABA CEO. "Owning a professional sports team, particularly basketball, has always been a dream of his. I can't think of anyone more qualified. Dreams do come true."

Mike Mullen is the President/CEO of Cyberspace Sports Production Network Inc. He worked for the NBA for ten years where he helped pioneer the NBA into the computer age and was the first person to fully automate an NBA franchise. He also was the first to create a commercial basketball site on the worldwide web when he designed and maintained the original site for Prodigy and managed an international cyberstaff of more than 200 reporters. Mike was also recognized as the top computer analyst in pro basketball and was acknowleged by the White House and US Senate.

Following his computer days, he ventured into other areas of sports including MLB, professional boxing, Team USA boxing, and has chaired career seminars including for USA Olympics. He served as GM of the historic Venice Arena, former headquarters of Ringling Bros Circus in Venice FL and created CSPN Sports in 2008, the home of the ABA Radio Network. Mike's oldest son will be serving as the GM of the team.

"My team name will be the Lake Charles Corsairs," stated Mullen. "A corsair is a glorified and romanticized priate. It should be fun. With my experience in selling tickets and sponsorships as well as a background in entertainment, the ABA business model is perfect...and this league has such tradition, such panache...that it should be very exciting. Of course, Lake Charles is a wonderful city and with several teams along the Gulf Coast and more coming, we'll be an excellent addition to the division."

For more information, you can reach Mike at 812 720 8015, email mmullen@cspnsports.com or visit www.abalive.com. The Lake Charles Corsairs website will be online shortly.

Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
