Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees News Release
The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees of the Central Hockey League (CHL) announced on Thursday the signing of forward Aaron Lee. Lee has been one of the most consistent forwards in the Killer Bees history and is top ten in practically every offensive category in Bees history.
Lee initially signed with the Bees for the start of 2008-09 season and put up a superb rookie campaign scoring 14 goals and registering 23 assists. In his sophomore season with the Bees Lee scored a career high 25 goals with 20 assists.
Last year Lee was once again one of the most consistent forwards on the squad turning in another 20 goal season with 20 goals and 26 assists.
"I've seen him play for the last three years and I'm glad he is on my side now." said Killer Bees General Manager and Head Coach Terry Ruskowski. "Lee has great speed, a great shot, and more than anything he plays the game the right way and that is exactly what we need to take this team to the next level. I'm excited to have him on the team this season."
"It's great to be back in the Hive! I must admit I had some other offers, but I never wanted to leave the Valley, and ultimately the way I've been treated by the fans and the team made it impossible to leave," said Lee about returning. "It sounds like coach Ruskowski is putting together a great team so I am excited to try and help lead us on a run to the championship!"
Lee sits high on the Killer Bees record book in almost every statistical category. With 59 career goals Lee sits fourth all-time in Bees history in goals, his 69 assists are eighth all-time and his 128 points are fifth all-time.
Lee is also on pace to become the all-time lead in games played this season. Lee has donned the Bees sweater 183 times over the last three seasons and in his 40th game this season will tie Ryan Shmyr for the Killer Bees record of 223 games. Lee is third in shots taken, sixth in power play goals, fourth in game-winning goals and fifth in shorthanded goals.
The Killer Bees open their ninth season of play October 21st against the Missouri Mavericks at State Farm Arena. Full and half season tickets are now on sale by calling the Killer Bees office at 956-843-7825 or for more information check out killerbeehockey.com.
