NEW YORK – New York Dragons quarterback AARON GARCIA, Georgia Force wide receiver/linebacker DARRYL HAMMOND and Los Angeles Avengers wide receiver/defensive back KEVIN INGRAM have been named Offensive Player, ADT Defensive Player and Ironman of the Week, respectively, for Week 8 of the 2003 season.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK Garcia (6-1, 195, Sacramento State), in his ninth AFL season, led the Dragons (2-6) to their second straight victory by completing 28 of 38 passes for 339 yards, eight touchdowns and one interception against the Chicago Rush (3-5) on Sunday. In the victory, Garcia reached two milestones – 500-touchdown passes (currently 505) and 25,000-passing yards (currently 25,237). Garcia has now tied a career-high with nine straight 300-yard passing games after throwing for his 35th career 300-yard game. The former Hornet currently leads the AFL in touchdown passes (61), passing yards (2,736), and completion percentage (70.1). This marks the seventh time Garcia has earned an AFL weekly honor.

ADT DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK Hammond (6-3, 220, Virginia), who is in his record-setting 13th AFL season, led Georgia (6-2) on the defensive side of the ball in the Force's 38-36 victory over the Orlando Predators (6-2) on Sunday which gave the Force a share of first place in the Southern Division. The former Cavalier recorded two interceptions that were returned for touchdowns and forced a fumble that led to the game-winning field goal in the closing minute of the game. On offense, Hammond tallied five receptions for 46 yards. This marks the fifth time Hammond has earned an AFL weekly honor.

IRONMAN OF THE WEEK Ingram (6-0, 185, Westchester), who is in his second AFL season, led Los Angeles (6-2) with his two-way play by recording four receptions for 36 yards and two touchdowns in the Avengers' 61-51 home victory over the Grand Rapids Rampage (5-3) on Sunday. The former Golden Ram also recorded five total tackles, an interception, a fumble recovery, two kickoff returns for 34 yards and 94 all-purpose yards. This marks the first time Ingram has earned an AFL weekly honor.

Offensive Player of the Week candidates included: Colorado's Damian Harrell, Dallas' Jim Kubiak, Detroit's Andy Kelly, Las Vegas' Mike Horacek, Los Angeles' Tony Graziani, New York's Mike Furrey, San Jose's James Roe and Tampa Bay's John Kaleo.

ADT Defensive Player of the Week candidates included: Dallas' Ja'Mar Toombs, Georgia's Jermaine Smith, Los Angeles' Cornelius Coe, New York's Donvetis Franklin, Tampa Bay's Omarr Smith and Corey Sawyer.

Ironman of the Week candidates included: Arizona's Randy Gatewood, Chicago's Anthony Ladd, Dallas' Jason Shelly, Detroit's Ron Carpenter, Georgia's Darryl Hammond, Las Vegas' Frank Carter, Tampa Bay's David Saunders.
