Frisco Thunder News Release
The Frisco Thunder completed their first ever open tryout in first class fashion this past Saturday. Over seventy athletes showed up to test their skills and abilities in hopes to join the team for its inaugural season. The players were tested in the 40, pro shuttle, vertical jump, and broad jump while battling temperatures in the low 20's.
"I am extremely pleased with every athlete out here. Their attitude, desire, and abilities are a big encouragement to me and our staff. As a team, we will play at a very high level and I saw some talent out here today that will be able to compete and help bring the Intense Bowl to Frisco, TX " stated Head Coach Jon Loudermilk.
After testing the athletes, the group went into individual drills where each athlete had the chance to show the coaches how well they could perform in drills and a team setting. For almost an hour the players competed with each other running plays against the defense with everyone competing to get their name on the roster. One athlete was overheard saying "I won't be happy until I see my name on the big screen in the Dr. Pepper Star Center"
The Frisco Thunder would like to thank Zoom Performance Sports for their help in the electronic timing of the athletes, Chipotle of Frisco for their generosity feeding each of the athletes and FISD for supplying the fantastic venue.
"This was definitely a day of success for our team, organization, and this community. With the help from Zoom Performance Sports, Chipotle, FISD and other key individuals, we were able to put together a great tryout for each of these players. Greatness is what we are after and today we achieved it." said Loudermilk
