Skyforce Acquire Mullens and Re-Acquire Dawkins

Sioux Falls, SD (Feb. 14, 2015) - The Sioux Falls Skyforce announced today that they have acquired former NBA center Byron Mullens and have re-acquired guard Andre Dawkins after the completion of his second 10-day contract with the Boston Celtics.

Mullens was drafted by the Dallas Mavericks with the 24th overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft before being acquired by the Oklahoma City Thunder in a draft night trade. He has five seasons of NBA experience and has played for the Oklahoma City Thunder (2009-2011), Charlotte Bobcats (2011-2013), Los Angeles Clippers (2013-14) and Philadelphia 76ers (2013-14). Mullens holds NBA career averages of 7.4 points and 4.2 rebounds. His best NBA season came in 2012-13 with the Charlotte Bobcats when he averaged 10.6 points and 6.4 rebounds.

Collegiately, Mullens played one season at Ohio State. During his time at Ohio State he appeared in 33 games (2 starts) and averaged 8.9 points and 4.7 rebounds. He was named the 2008-09 Big Ten Sixth Man of the Year and was selected to the 2008-09 All-Big Ten Freshman Team. Mullens also has NBA D-League experience as he made 41 appearances (41 starts) for the then Tulsa 66ers while on assignment from the Oklahoma City Thunder. During his 41 games with the 66ers, Mullens averaged 15.1 points, 7.2 rebounds and shot 47.3% from the field.

Dawkins returns to the Skyforce after the completion of his second 10-day contract with the Boston Celtics. While with the Celtics, Dawkins was assigned to the Maine Red Claws and appeared in seven games (all starts). In his seven games with Maine he averaged 16.1 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.4 assists. Dawkins did not make an appearance for the Celtics. He has made 11 appearances (6 starts) for the Skyforce this season and is averaging a team high 22.9 points on 51% shooting from three-point range.

Both Mullens and Dawkins will be active for Sioux Falls' next game against the Delaware 87ers on February 20 at the Sanford Pentagon.
