August 2, 2013 - National Women's Soccer League (NWSL)
FC Kansas City News Release
Chicago - FC Kansas City midfielder Erika Tymrak was voted the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) Player of the Month by the media for month of July of the 2013 NWSL season.
Tymrak, who turns 22 on Aug. 7, scored three goals and added an assist in six games during the month as she helped FC Kansas City to 3-0-3 record. Tymrak and the Blues also extended their unbeaten run to nine games - matching the Western New York Flash for the longest undefeated stretch in the NWSL.
The Bradenton, Fla. native's three goals pushed her total for the season to six - tied for the sixth most in the league.
Tymrak produced her best performance of the month for FC Kansas City in a 2-0 victory against Seattle Reign FC on July 20, when she had a goal and an assist to help spark the Blues current three-game winning streak that has propelled them to first place in the NWSL standings.
She is the second consecutive FCKC player to be named the NWSL Player of the Month after Lauren Holiday won the award for the month of June.
FC Kansas City will return to action Sunday, Aug. 4 at 7:30 p.m. CT against Portland Thorns FC at JELD-WEN Field in Portland, Ore in a match that will be broadcast nationally on FOX Soccer.
The NWSL Player of the Month is selected each month of the regular season by a selection of journalists that cover the league on a consistent basis.
