HOUSTON, TX, April 9, 2012 - The Houston Stallions kicked off their 2012 season with a bang on Saturday night, achieving a 67-23 win over the West Texas Roughnecks.
From the first play of the game, the Stallions hit the scoreboard and never looked back "" scoring on every possession up to the final drive. "The guys were ready," said Head Coach, Gerald Dockery. "They spent the last several weeks working hard and they were ready to go."
Stallions Quarterback, Robert Kent put up big numbers - throwing for 395 yards and 8 touchdowns. Also in on the action, Wide Receiver Marshall had a stellar night, catching three touchdown passes "" followed by Demarques Daughtry and Damion Clark with two TDs each. The Stallions defense held firm, only giving the Roughnecks one touchdown throughout the entire second half of the game. Defensive End, Rico Brooks and Safety, Cory Barlow led the shut down coverage with seven solo tackles each.
The undefeated Houston Stallions head to Laredo and Amarillo next, then will return home to play on Sunday May 6th at the Merrell Center arena, where they will battle the Abilene Ruff Riders at 6p.m.
