Sifl Names 2011 MVPs, Coach of the Year

July 8, 2011 - Southern Indoor Football League (SIFL) News Release


LAKE CHARLES, La. - The Southern Indoor Football League named its Most Valuable Players and Coach of the Year today (Friday, July 8, 2011).

Recipients are as follows:

LEAGUE MVP: Adam DiMichele, QB, Erie Explosion. DiMichele enjoyed one of indoor football's most spectacular statistical seasons as a quarterback, throwing for 3,247 yards and 91 touchdowns. He weekly re-wrote the SIFL's single-game touchdown pass record, settling for 12 in a May 13 game against the Trenton Steel in which he also threw for 400 yards.

OFFENSIVE MVP: Kevin Concepcion, WR, Erie Explosion. Someone had to be on the receiving end of DiMichele's passes, and the DiMichele-Concepcion tandem ranks as one of the best in the sport's history. Concepcion caught 110 passes for 1,502 yards and 48 touchdowns, with single-game highs of 14 catches (twice) and 202 yards and seven TDs against Trenton.

DEFENSIVE MVP: Damian Daniels, DB, Columbus Lions. One of the sport's veteran defensive leaders who has always played a key role in the success of the Lions, Daniels delivered 18 interceptions for the Lions this season. He registered a pick in 10 of the 12 regular season games, including a 4-interception effort late in the season against Albany that helped the Lions clinch home field advantage throughout the playoffs.

SPECIAL TEAMS MVP: Craig Camay, K, Trenton Steel. Led SIFL kickers with 160 points. Converted 21 of 34 field goal attempts for a 61.8 percentage and 96 of 105 PATs for a 91.4 percentage. After opening the season with four fields against Richmond, Camay would later set the league record for longest kick with a 61-yarder against Fayetteville.

COACH OF THE YEAR: Gerald Dockery, Houston Stallions. Dockery kept his team together through some early-season struggles and led the Stallions to an undefeated regular season. Houston rallied to defeat Rio Grande Valley on a last-second field goal in the opening round of the playoffs before falling to Louisiana in the semifinals. Houston led the league in total offense and scoring defense throughout the regular season.
